YAGA is the fastest growing buy & sell app for preloved fashion in South Africa and Estonia. Yaga launched a pilot in Tallinn, Estonia and expanded to South Africa early 2020 where Yaga shortly became the number one choice for South Africans for selling their preloved fashion items online.

With over 5 million monthly visits, close to 100k monthly transactions and more than 1.5 million items on sale, we have been growing more than 2.4x from the beginning of 2022 only and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Early 2022 we expanded to India and Kenya to gather early learnings from these emerging markets with vast potential for growth.

Our mission is to make fashion industry more sustainable by providing a scam-free and convenient online platform for selling and buying preloved fashion. Our focus is on emerging markets as we believe fashion consumption has to become sustainable in the every corner of the world.

We have recently closed an investment round of €2.3m to scale up South Africa, continue on our growth trajectory and expand the team from 14 to 30.

Position offered

We are looking for an experienced Vice President (VP) of Growth who will take the ownership of Yaga’s go-to-market strategy and execution and is responsible for delivering on the growth plan. You will bring together product & marketing efforts and use data-driven insights, market trends, and innovation to drive sustainable growth for the company.

You are responsible for overseeing all aspects of a company's growth strategy, from customer acquisition and retention to revenue and profit growth. Your main goal is to find creative solutions that help us get more customers and retain existing ones. You are focused on finding new ways to grow the business.

Our ideal candidate has a solid Marketing/Growth background, ideally from a consumer marketplace, and hands-on experience managing a variety of growth initiatives.

You will be reporting directly to the CEO, manage a direct team of two and indirect team of four plus external media agencies with the ambition to increase the team further as we grow.

Responsibilities

  • Selecting and executing of the go-to-market and growth strategy

  • Full ownership and responsibility for delivering on the growth plan

  • Creating and implementing the marketing plan in line with overall business objectives

  • Using data and analytics for decision-making and measuring marketing effectiveness as well as creating a culture of structured experimentation and iteration to drive growth

  • Monitoring and reporting on growth metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Manage and optimize marketing budget, prioritize marketing projects and allocate resources accordingly

  • Maintain brand standards and ensure compliance across all marketing and communications channels

  • Leading and building a high-performing team to create and implement strategic marketing initiatives across various marketing functions including performance marketing, events, social media marketing, product marketing, and partnerships

  • Leading market research and competitive analysis to inform growth strategies

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize customer acquisition and retention strategies

  • Providing strategic guidance and leadership to support overall business growth and success

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a VP of Growth, Marketing Director or other senior role, previous experience might be also from sales & business development

  • You have prior experience in a similar role with a solid track record of success

  • You have strong experience in Growth Hacking, Social Media/ Viral Marketing, managing demand generation & the customer acquisition funnel, and performance marketing

  • Outstanding leadership, communication and presentation skills

  • You possess strong analytical skills and are comfortable dealing with numerical data

  • Entrepreneurial, can do / will do attitude, thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Strategic mindset, with ability to make difficult decisions

  • Solid knowledge of SEO, web analytics and Google Adwords

  • Experience in start-ups / scale-ups consumer-facing companies, marketplace experience is a strong plus
