More than preloved: The story behind #PassionToProfit

It’s that time of the year again. We celebrate the end of a brutal winter with the age-old ritual of swapping closets. While you exchange scarves for more skin-bearing styles, you realise: “Damn, I have a lot of stuff I don’t wear!”

You are not alone! This season you will hear first-hand from some of our OG #yagatribe members such as Ayanda Vana, Kiss Blush and Tell, Jessica van Heerden and Sine Gugulethu (to name a few) on how they turned their passion for selling preloved into a profitable side-hustle.

The idea was born from the simple question of: “What were you able to do with the money you made on Yaga?” We never would have guessed that Yaga profits funded anything from a honeymoon to a mom’s first visit to Cape Town. It even helped during the lean months of starting up a business. All will be revealed on our social media pages during the next few weeks, so be sure to give us a follow on Instagram if you don’t want to miss any of the tea 😉

We’ll be honest… these stories also reminded us of our passion. Research shows that 20% of the side-hustle culture operates in the retail industry where people source and sell products for a profit. At Yaga we believe everyone should have free access to an online platform that is safe, efficient, and easy to use with all the tools of the trade at their fingertips while providing an alternative to fast fashion. We’re super proud that we have been able to help sellers make sales of over R10,000 a month! Many of whom this is their only source of income. We also recently celebrated a milestone of 1 million items sent to a new home via Yaga.

As the new season kicks off with this exciting campaign, we invite you to think of all the new possibilities that starting a Yaga shop can offer you. Whether it’s simply to free up some space in your closet or you’re facing a life-altering change like moving to a new country. We can help, not only can we help you live more sustainably, but we can help you turn your dreams into a reality.
